Act I Scene 2: Letters from my Love

I am deeply in love. Not with any ordinary man, but with my husband, Macbeth. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me. My lover Macbeth has been fighting in a battle and has been gone. I miss him so much and I hope he comes back soon. He is a general for the Scottish army. He writes me letters every day. The letters mean so much to me. I write him back, but sometimes I feel like he doesn’t get them. It’s probably hard to get letters to a man fighting in a battle. In my letters I write about how much I love and miss him. He writes and tells me all about his battles. Banquo, who is also a general for the Scots, he’s my husband’s best man. Banquo is like Macbeth’s better half. Each letter I get, I pray before I open it that it Macbeth will be telling me that he is coming home to me. I always get my hopes up thinking that that letter is the one. One day, however, it finally happened. I got my usual letter from Macbeth, but it was a different one. He wrote to me how he misses me, loves me and is coming home. I am not much of a crier, but I began to weep as I read on. I am so excited to see my husband, my one true love. I can’t wait to be in his arms again and move on with my life with him.
